On World Usability Day, we introduced the Top Task Identification methodology to our visitors in the form of an activity in which they had to pick the top 5 and bottom 5 tasks as voted by visitors to three websites. The fact that our volunteers had such difficulty in doing so shows that it is not easy to determine the needs of site users (in order to develop a customer-centric IA) without actually asking them to voice their opinions.
