Activities & Workshops

  • Breaking Barriers: tech challenges and effective solutions for the visually Impaired - This year we welcome Neil Atkinson from RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) Scotland for a presentation and interview on the challenges that visually impaired users face with technology and the most effective solutions.
  • Navigating AI safety & UX - The AI Safety Institute (AISI) is the first state-backed organisation dedicated to assessing the safety of AI systems through innovative evaluations. Jess Bergs, UX Engineering Lead at AISI, will give an introduction on how they employ human-in-the-loop methodologies such as red teaming and probing to examine AI models for potential vulnerabilities and risks.  She will provide insights into AISI's design process and expand on cutting-edge human-AI interaction principles, current accessibility considerations, and future potentials considering emerging real-time AI capabilities.
  • Accessible Gaming: In collaboration with TripleTapTech, experience how individuals with disabilities engage with video games using assistive technologies. Join a fun discussion on inclusive game design and have a play!
  • Unintended Consequences in UX: Through examples and discussion, we’ll present the framework of unintended consequences in product and service design. See examples and learn how to use this to understand and avoid these consequences during design.
  • A presentation on 'UX Competitive Benchmarking' with Arthur Moan, Stephen Denning (User Vision), and Kim Oslob (MeasuringU) - Learn about the powerful insights gained from UX Competitive Benchmarking and how to apply quantitative remote user research to inform your UX strategy.  Discover the powerful UX research and analysis platform MUiQ and see example outputs from a UX benchmarking study in the online travel industry.
  • Screen Reader Workshop: Gain hands-on experience with the NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) screen reader. Complete fun tasks, time-limited challenges and learn the essentials of screen reader navigation.
